The Freemasons are a dance / house / electronica production
team from England. The act consists of
DJ/Producer/composer/remixers Russell Small and James Wiltshire. Their name is
taken from the Brighton pub, Freemasons Tavern, Hove, which they frequently
visit. The duo have become one of the most successful dance acts in the UK
thanks to their remixes of major artists like Beyonce and Faith Evans as well
as their own productions for which they have earned three 20 top hits. In 2005 the
duo transformed Jackie Moore’s 1979 #1 Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play
track “This Time Baby” and Tina Turner’s 2000 hit “When The Heartache Is Over”
into an international club smash as “Love On My Mind”. The song, which sampled
the Moore track, but whose lyrics “I’ve Got Love On My Mind, Ain’t no use in me
wastin’ time…”(The opening lyrics on the Moore single) and “When The Heartache
Is Over, I Know I Won’t Be Missing You” (The chorus from Turner’s tune) was
sung repeatedy by British singer Amanda Wilson, reached the top 10 of both the
Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play and Dance Top 40 charts (where it reached
#2 on the latter) in the United States. They were also the remixers on Faith
Evans 2005 #1 Hot Dance Music/Club Play and #4 Dance Top 40 hit “Mesmerized”. The
act’s follow-up, “Watchin’”, also with Amanda Wilson, was released in the United
States in 2006. Freemasons released their third single “Rain Down Love” in
early 2007 which features Siedah Garret as the lead vocalist. The duo have also
had huge plaudits for their remixes of Beyonce’s Deja Vu, Ring The Alarm, Beautiful
Liar and Greenlight. In addition, they have since remixed Kelly Rowland’s
‘Work’ and released a remix of The Alanis Morisette track Uninvited which
featured in the film City of Angels; in December 2007 with Bailey Tzuke, which
have both been UK Top 10 Hit Singles.Listen song here:YouTube
